I just want to say thank you and let you know how appreciated it is that your organization sent us enough electric
blankets for the detachment as well as the bread maker and what appears to be an endless supply of bread mix!

The blankets have worked wonders during these cold winter nights where the temperature drops below freezing
on a regular basis. And I must add that the smell and taste of fresh warm bread is something that everyone here
enjoys on almost a daily basis.

We really appreciate all of your generosity over the last two months and would like to express our heart-felt
thanks. If you are able to can you please send me a good address to send a little token of our appreciation?
Thank you for everything!

Hello I am Specialist XXXX. I am currently deployed in Afghanistan with the XX EN CO. I am a Combat Engineer.
Our job in-theatre is to conduct Route Clearance. We clear and neutralize the routes of IEDS (road-side bombs). I
ride in a one man mine detection vehicle, known as a Husky.

I recently was blown up on a route by a 150 pound bomb emplaced by enemy insurgents. My vehicle was totaled
beyond repair. I had a major concussion which left me unconscious for several hours. I also received a broken
nose and a fractured vertebra in my lower back.

Upon recovery in the hospital, one of the nurses brought me a black bag with tons of personal hygiene supplies,
socks, a CD Player and some of other things donated from your organization. I just wanted to say thank you very
much. There were many cards in there telling me that I was a hero. But in my days of recovery I realized you
guys were my heroes for caring so much and making for a more peaceful and reassuring recovery. Thank you
again for all you do.

Hello from Afghanistan.  I received your shipment and want to thank you so much for your generosity.  We set up

to sleep on...some told me they had been sleeping on piles of magazines.   The sheets, pillowcases, towels,
washcloths, flipflops and hygiene kits were a huge hit with the Soldiers as we do not always have the items
available on the FOB at our rather small AAFES.

The bread machine...my Soldiers really love it and have some bread baking as I write this email to you.

It is very nice of you to send us items from home.  I love the cards that were made and I have them around the

We received your packages, thanks so much!  We really appreciated you sending so many things to the troops out
here.  We were actually able to send one of the boxes of blankets to the troops at our forward operating bases
(FOBs) on the extreme front lines, and they're on their way as I write this.  We live in great conditions compared
to those guys and occasionally are able to get packages to them.  I'm sure they'll make great use of the blankets
and love the notes.  It's very obvious that a lot of time and care went into each blanket and card.  I know those
troops who are constantly in harm's way will really appreciate the gifts, though they might not be able to let us
know!

Things here have been very busy with hardly any down time, but we're doing some good work here at the
hospital.  We're hoping to have a small 4th of July party with our British brothers and sisters.  We're calling it the
"XX Tea Party."  The 4th also happens to be the birthday of the British medical regiment that supplies the majority
of the medical staff here, so we'll have a couple of games and snacks set up if the tempo allows.

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and generosity, and please pass our
thanks on to your team who has worked so hard for us!

My name is Captain XXXX, and I am currently deployed to the Hospital in the Helmand Province of Southern
Afghanistan.  This post is unique in that the facility is commanded by the UK forces and staffed with a mixture of
UK, US, and Estonian troops.  I work on the Aeromedical Evacuation Team that is responsible for airlifting all
wounded/injured/ill US/NATO patients from this area of the country to a higher level of medical care.

We recently received a package from you containing Apple Cobbler and a few other items.  I wanted to let you
know that your gifts are much appreciated by the men and women stationed here.  We have distributed the gifts
to both the American medical team that works here and also a few of our British colleagues.  They have been very
popular and went very quickly!  A common review was "it tastes like apple pie in a jar!"

We have a great working relationship as a combined team with the goal of first-line medical care to the NATO
forces and locals as well.  One team--one fight!  The hospital here receives combat casualties daily, and the staff
is exposed to very difficult situations.  As a rule, medical personnel are compassionate individuals and feel it
personally when our young men and women are injured in the line of duty.  This past week has been an especially
difficult one with the "surge"; the medical team is constantly working to physically "conserve the fighting strength."
Your gifts aid in the healing process not just with items, but also with the reminder that you are being thought of
and cared for by friends and family.  Even here in the desert, our little world feels a little more like home.

Thanks again for thinking of us!
